Background

In 2007, the WAS-State Route 7 Safety Study identified that from 2003 through 2005 there were more than 225 crashes documented along SR 7 between SR 60 and Acme/Jefferson Streets.  There were 52 crashes at the Pike Street/Greene Street/7th Street intersection documented from 2006 through 2008, making it the third worst intersection in Marietta.  Because of the safety concerns with this intersection, the City of Marietta applied for and received Highway Safety Funds through ODOT in 2010 to study and improve the intersection.
